This is the beginning of day 3. Something just doesn't seem right. (Addiction & Recovery board)

well if you say bipolor that might be why you are on the seroquel, and yes it can give you a huge hangover.

Seroquel is an antipsychotic, what it really does is block dopamine. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter in the brain. If you ever heard of recreational drugs like, MDMA, Cocaine, methamphetamine. They are dopamine agonists which means they help your brain produce more of it and it gives you that euphoric feeling. But im sure you also heard of Parkinson's Disease, that is when "well the theory says" your dopamine gets depleted in your brain. Antipsychotic drugs can cause...

tardive parkinsonism - "Tardive" which means "late appearing" and symptoms are those of Parkinson's disease. You'll notice early shaking on one side of you body. The reason I am saying this is because that happend to me with a drug call Zyprexa which is like seroquel.

Tardive dyskinesia - "dyskinesia" means movement disorder. Like smacking of the lips, tongue and jaw. And that side effect isnt always reversible when the drug is stopped.

And the big one, "NMS" - That is when your body temp sky rockets and you become very ridgid "stiff". They can tell early symptoms from a renal function test. CREATININE levels are high in the blood. This can be fatal or if you are lucky just put you on a ventilator.

These are RARE and happen more to the elderly and children but if you dont think you need the drug then dont take it. Your DR. should have told you about these potential side effects.

I still dont understand why he has you on GABAtril AND Klonopin together. Would you ask the doc that for me? They are both anti-seizure drugs and they both produce GABA. Maybe he wants you to discontinue the klonopin early and keep you on the GABAtril for a week or too after the symptoms subside "just to be safe". Ive been on all of those meds though so im just telling you from my personal knowledge and what ive been taught.
