I Cant Take It Anymore!!!! (Acne board)

25th June 2007
I hate to hear that your suffering like this. I had fought this battle myself for the past 12 years and only now finally know what is causing it and how to control it(not cure it). Just a few words of advice.

1. About the sores on your mouth. Are you sure that this is acne? When I first began breaking out I also began having bad fever blister breakouts. To me it seemed so cruel that not only do I have to deal with zits all over my face, but also with a mouth so painful that it hurt to smile. Next time your at the derm, ask for Zovirax and try this to see if it helps. Or if you want something natural, start taking Lysine every day. You can find this natural supplement at any drug store or grocery store with the vitamins. If some of these breakouts are indeed related herpes, this will help.

2. Go ahead and go to the dermatologist, but don't expect that what he gives you will work. I personally think that any cream or pill will never cure the problem, may help but mostly its good for your morale. You will feel better in the hopes that this may work.

3. The only thing that has ever worked for me has been diet control. I know you hate to hear this but it sounds like you are at the point where you may be willing to try anything. Seriously, try it. It will not hurt you and will probably improve your general health. Its not so simple as avoiding sugar. I've done this with only a slight improvement. You must control your blood sugar levels and not eat things that cause a great increase/decrease. Things that affect blood sugar levels are as follows: all grains(whole grains are better, but they all can contribute) all fruits(again, some are better than others) all simple sugars(including honey, maple syrup, fructose). If you want more advice on this kind of diet, let me know. You will recieve opposition, likely from family. But despite what they tell you, it will not kill you. Do some research on low-glycemic diets online and at bookstore. This really is worth looking into. You dont want to be 28 before you figure this all out.
