I have to treat my OB's bc the symptoms alone get to me... whether it be fatigue, pain, etc.
I have been experimenting with homeopathic treatment (watching what I eat.... there is a lot of truth to the arginine in the foods we eat; lysine, Vit. C) and I'm pleased with the results; however it hasn't helped totally (I'm expericing a larger amt. of OB's than I'm comfortable with lately).
For medication, I like Valtrex (oral), and I also have Zovirax ointment cream.
If you aren't completely sure of your dx, go to the doctor where you can get accurately tested and get some medication.
The meds are very expensive (I do not have insurance). Fortuantely I am on a drug program where I am able to have medication provided for me. If you cannot afford the medicine it's possible you could get on a program that will help you to get it for lower cost or for free.
[QUOTE=Billysixty3;2847100]or I'm going to go insane with this. What happens to me is if my face gets exposed to the sun for any prolonged period of time, I get a massive herpes outbreak. It starts off with pain on the right side of my head and then the pain starts working its way down the right side of my face. My jaw will hurt on that side, then my teeth, throat and cheek. Then the outbreak comes..either a huge outbreak on my lips or underneath my lips around my chin. Its never a small outbreak either. Its usually at least 1 inch in diameter and sticks out pretty far. It looks horrendous when I get one and it takes weeks to heal up. All of this because of a little sunshine on my face. The bigger problem is that I work outside. Can anyone relate to this at all? I've yet to read a post that details all of the same pain symptoms I deal with prior to the outbreak. I'm concerned that maybe its something more than just typical herpes as it is a huge ordeal with a massive outbreak. Any recommendations for medications that may lesson the outbreaks. I've had this for many years but it seems in the last year or so the outbreaks have gotten more severe and come on much easier. Any advice would be appreciated..thanks..
