Biotene or salt water is probably not going to cut it. The sores in my mouth were SO bad they put me on an antiviral (zovirax the first time and famvir the second) and Morphine oral drops. I can't even describe the pain... it was excrutiating! I was told that for some this happens. Call his oncologist ASAP and make him more comfortable. The other thing I used was "miracle mouthwash." It consists of a mixture of lidocaine, benedryl and maaolox. You gargle with it and it numbs your mouth.

The parasthesias can be lessened by avoiding ALL HOT OR COLD Things... that means walking into the cold, or drinking cold or hot beverages.

Having gone thru the same regimen, I can tell you that you need to get him meds to make him as comfortable as he can be right now. I hate to tell you, but for most, it gets worse the more doses you get.
