Treatment Limbo (Cancer: Colon & Rectal board)

7th October 2004
I've been reading your posts KT and my heart goes out to you and your husband especially since you have another situation going in your life. Well at least there's positive news with one of them. I also was diagnosed with colon cancer in July 2004 but fortunately mine was only stage II and no lymph nodes were involved. I had a colon resection Aug 5th and I had my first round of chemo last week. I was explaining to Edinaman on another thread that I really hadn't had any problems yet. I've been more tired than normal and I was given Zofran and compazine for nausea which worked pretty well. I took those for the 3 days following the treatment but I have to say it made me very constipated which I wasn't warned about. I get Oxaliplatin and Leucovorin on Thursday morning and then a home health nurse comes to the house that afternoon to hook me up to the 5-FU for 46 hours. Then she returns on Saturday to unhook me. I go to work on Friday with the "fanny pack" and I was fine. Now after reading some other folks' experiences I might be in for a rougher ride the more treatments I get. I guess I'll just have to see and hope for the best. I'm glad to hear that there was no hair loss however because I think that would be very hard to handle.
It's fun to see some of the words you use in your posts since you're British because though I live here in the US I'm originally from Jamaica and we use british terms and spelling there. Anyway keep the faith.
