I've had an infection of the chest and sinuses for the past two weeks, last night I had to go to the er because I was sneezing SO much (up to 35 times in a minute) and couldn't breathe. I jokingly told my friend I had whooping sneeze beforehand. Once I got to the ER, they took me right back (my ENT had called ahead) and they ordered a chest xray and ran some blood tests. After taking a history and everyone hearing my sneezing fits, they were fairly certain what I had was whooping cough, just presenting itself differently... I had a call from the VT Department of Health and we talked about stuff. When I was in the ER they made me wear a mask and some of the staff wore masks as well. I am not allowed to leave the house for five more days, until I am all finished with my zithromax. Has anyone heard of this?
Ironically the muscle relaxants they gave me for my neck (because I hurt it while sneezing) seem to have helped the sneezing fits, mainly, because my dr said that it was calming the spasms in my throat.
