   still sick (General Health board)

Hi...I think you should call her and ask if you could be on a longer course of meds. The z-pak is zithromax, right?
My last one, the doc put me on a 10 day course of zithromax and it took all of that plus a few days afterward until the infection went away.

3 days seems not enough..but definitely give her a call today and discuss it with her.

I feel for you!!!

Well I finally went to the dr yesterday and she said that I had a really bad sinus infection and she couldn't believe that I wasn't in more pain. She said it was one of the worst infections she'd seen. I guess my throat was really red and swollen, my glands are swollen and it hurt when she tapped on my sinuses. She gave me a 3 day z-pak and flonase...

Well today (on day 2 of meds) and I'm still feeling really poorly. My throat is still really sore, I'm wondering if she should have taken a strep culture as well? Or will the zpak take care of it?

The 3-day Z-pack is much stronger than the 5-day pack. I'd recommend that you finish the pack and then call your doctor if your condition isn't improving. It's a bad infection, and it won't clear overnight. Zithromax also continues to work long after you've finished the pills.

I didn't realize that the three pack was stronger.. so I actually got a better antibiotic than if I had gotten a chest infection? (they usually give me a 5 pack for bronchitis)

Today I actually feel worse (if possible) my ears hurt and I've been coughing a lot, almost bronchitis like. If I don't feel better by tomorrow I'm going to head back in and see what's going on. She really stressed to me about coming back if I didn't feel better.

Sorry to hear that you're feeling worse.

Yes, the Tri-Pak is "stronger." Each tablet contains 500mg, whereas the standard Z-pack (5-day) only contains 250mg per tablet. That's double the daily dose.

Definately go back if you aren't feeling better. While Zithromax can take several days to work, you shouldn't be feeling worse after your treatment is over.
