Quote from PlaDrv4Me:Has anyone ever had semi-painless enlarged tonsils that didnt go away before? I was reading that engorged tonsils can result in or be the result of chronic recurring infections that can cause malaise, and a variety of other problems if left to their own devices. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks, Ian.
Yep had sinusitis and ear infections that lead to enlarged tonsils and frequent tonsil infections. At one point my right tonsil was almost 1/2 into my throat.
1. You still have an infection, it's just low grade right now. I would go back to the doc and ask for another round of antibiotics, specifically zithromax becasue it is the only antibiotic that kills mycoplasma.
2. Start taking Zinc (50mg), selenium (200 mcg) and vitamin D (1000 IU) every day. Each of these is known for their ability to fight viral and bacterial infections. Also add a multivitamin with minerals to be sure you are getting optimum intake of all necessary micro nutrients.
3. If you have other symptoms like dry skin, weight gain, fatigue, sore mouth/lips, memory/concentration problems and/or frequent stomach upset, I would also have a thyroid test. Low thyroid can often lead to a poor immune system (Do you get lots of colds/flu every year?)
