Any help would be appreciated: husband sick (General Health board)

12th January 2005
Hi. First time posting...sorry if it's in the wrong board.
My husband has been real sick lately. Flu like stuff with aches, pains, severe congestion and sinuses. We went to the doc and he prescribed him Zithromax, but yesterday hubby's feet and hands went numb and his feet were extremely cold. He also felt like he was going to pass out he was so weak. So of course we took him to the ER and sat there forever just for the surfer dude doctor to say that he doesn't know why his feet and hands are doing that but he probably has an upper respiratory infection. Does anyone know what might cause these symptoms? It sure would make me feel better if this was part of the virus that has been going around I've heard of (many NFL players are reported to have a chest virus). Otherwise, I'm freakin' out about this whole numbness thing since there is lots and lots of heart problems on my in-law's side. And my hubby NEVER gets sick and even if he does, he dang well won't admit it. He once worked for 2 weeks with pnuemonia until I practically dragged him to the doc only to find out he'd had that for 2 weeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
Also: at the ER, his bloodwork was normal, and doc said hyperventilation, yet my husband had shortness of breath only occassionally and his numbness is constant and hasn't subsided for 2 days. Someone else mentioned maybe West Nile Virus or something. That the cold feet could be circulatory. You'd think the blood test would pick this up right? I just want him to feel better and I really want to get a second opinion since the doc at the ER literally said to me "saying you have a history of heart disease in your family is like saying you have a history of pregnancy." And he didn't look at any of the tests before he told us he ruled out MS because he didn't think that's what it was and "yeah, if the numbness continues, you should contact a neurologist, but I don't think that's what's wrong so we'll rule that out too." I just wanted a better explanation, and so far I haven't gotten one. Thanks again for any help!

I have been experiencing similiar symptoms. Getting over bronchitis but still felt terribly weak, tired and like fighting something. Also the most unusual part is that my hands feel wierd - need to keep them covered because feels like fighting something or they are cold or pinky feels numb (changes). Went to the doctor two days ago and started taking zithromax but still hands feel strange and still tired and weak. Has anyone had the hand symptoms and how long until zithromax works for bronchitis. Doctor only put me on for 5 days. Thank you.
