Newbie here: was prescribed Verapamil today (High & Low Blood Pressure board)

10th October 2006
I originally went to the doc because i thought i had an ear infection and massive headache.

Took my bp , it was 210/110 . He prescribed me Ziac , generic bisoporol

10 days later its now 130/90.

he says i had no ear infection but water behind my ears whatever that means, and he prescribed loratadine for nasal and ear congestion. Its not working , so i dont think

Today he prescribed the verapamil because he says it could help with the headaches . is this true?

Not sure if he forgot but my last visit i was seeing him for headache and he said the headache was being caused by the high blood pressure.

So how can that be true and now he says he thinks the ziac is causing it

No headache med has worked so far. I have to get this filled tommorrow i guess. I went to other boards and from what they say. There is nothing natural to take .

I am taking hawthorne, garlic, vitamin C and cayenne which seems to help also.

This actually started off as stomach trouble and gerd about 2 months ago but 80 percent of that is gone.

ttwarrior,

If you had a headache at the same time that you had 130/90, then your doctor was completely wrong when he implied your headache was in any way related to your blood presure. THe 210/110 might have been a different story but I am certain that the headache was most closely related to the massive ear infection. THAT connection is well established.

"Water behind the ear" is usually caused by a middle ear infection...it doesn't come out of the blue.

Ziac isn't exactly bisopropol but rather bisopropol PLUS hydrochlorothiazide (a diuretic.) The latter is a singularly good agent for relieving some of the fluid pressure in your middle ear.
So he added verapamil to the two BP agents and now you are on three?

Anyhoo,
Go see an ENT specialist for the ear, your hearing is too valuable to entrust to somebody who sounds like he's in ever his head. In fact, why not find another GP while you are at it.;)

yes i am on 3 now i guess. I believe he said , but somehow forgot already if he said to take the ziac with the verapamil.

Also he says my ears look fine and i dont have an ear infection. He askes me about my nose congestion but doesnt seem to care about my ears.

Everyone keeps telling me i have an ear infection because of the headache where it is , plus the ear ringing, bubbly pops , . Not sure if im saying it right when i say bubbly pops. My ears dont become clear. They feel stopped up
