hi, new here. 41 year old female with family history of hp and heart disease. I have had two days of outrageous HPB. I use a machine at a store and know what it generally reads for me there, 138/upper 80's. When I go to the doc my bp is generally in 120 to lower 130 over low 80's upper 70's. I am on toporol (generic) and zestril (generic) My bp reading yesterday was 170/120. I waited and took it several times and it finally lowered to 148 over 99.
Today was the same but worse and it never lowered 177/115. went to er. they didn't do an ekg or anything just some blood tests. it finally lowered to 155/98 and sent me home, saying I must have been stressed, no ekg, no nothing. I wasn't stressed!!!! I am now, worrying about why my bp is spiking. I do have bad lifestyle habits that I was working on and slipped (diet, smoking) but I knew my bp was high (which I went to check) because my cheeks got prickly hot and my palms and fingers grew red and tingly, and my chest aches and my nose bleeds.
Seriously, could this have something to do with hormones? I'm 41 with PCOS and it wouldn't be uncommon that I might be hitting menapause.
I hope someone can give me some feedback. I am going to try to get in to see my regular md wed but its 1am tues morning and Im afraid to go to sleep as my cheeks has started burning again. Just dont trust the hospital here, they are really lax when they think you are a 'problem' pt. Eight years ago I had panic attacks and didnt know what they were, (due to PCOS) and frequented the ER. They are looking at me saying I'm having anxiety. No, I know myself well enough now to know what is anxiety and I haven't had a panic attack for over 3 years (thank God)
Thanks for any encouragement or help
