Definitely talk to your dad's doctor. I also have high blood pressure with my diabetes and my doctor put me on Zestril because it would help protect my kidneys and I have been on it for 15 years and my kidneys are still working just fine. Ask his doctor if this kind of medication might help him. Good luck.
