Prescription strength of the Zantac is the equivalent of two of the over the counter tablets. If you have GERD you should first get checked by the doc to be sure you don't have something like a hiatal hernia causing it. The original poster has already seen his doc and was told to sleep with his head slightly elevated so hence my suggestion to raise the head of his bed on blocks since he sleeps on his stomach.
