Pcos (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

19th August 2007
Hi everyone!
I am new to the forum but I wanted to ask a question and see if anyone else has had a similar experience.
I have PCOS and insulin resistance and my endocrinologist put me on Avandia a couple of years ago to get my periods started. Well it did get them started but I also started having a lot of ovarian pain as well. About 8 months ago he put me on Ortho-Tricyclin to see if it would help stop the pain by stopping the ovulation. Well, I was still having pain so he sent me for a sono to see what was going on. I have two large septated cysts and numerous smaller cysts on my left ovary. This was a concern for ovarian cancer so he sent me to my OB/GYN doctor. After a second sono and with no change in the larger cysts but an increase in the smaller ones I recently had the left ovary, tube and some endometerosis and adhesions removed. My OB/GYN was surprised that I had so many cysts as he felt that the Ortho Tricyclin should have stopped them from forming and also helped to get the larger cysts to go away. He switched me to Yasmin to see if that would help. I am still having pain like I am ovulating on the right side only now and he is afraid that I may indeed be ovulating on the Yasmin. He even told me to use an extra form of birth control just in case.

I am curious if anyone else has been on these meds and had the same thing happen? Could the Avandia be overriding the Yasmin in someway and by doing so allow me to ovulate regardless of the birth control pills? This is the second birth control pill I have been on in the last 9 months and I still seem to be ovulating regardless. I would love to hear from anyone that has had a similiar experience and any advice would be helpful too.
Thanks...
