celexa (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

I've been on Celexa for 5 months now and I feel really great - better than I have in a long time. But I get sick during my period. Every month since I started on Celexa I've had severe headache, extreme fatigue and general flu-like symptoms for about 4-5 days each month. I'm on the pill (Yasmin) as well but I've been on that for a year with no side effects. Has anyone else had this experience on Celexa? I am 45 but I'm not at menopause yet.

Thanks!

If you are at 45 how do you know you are not in perimenopause? Perimenopause usually starts in your early 40's so you could well be starting perimenopause. Either way since the celexa works well for you and Yasmin works well for you your best bet is to bring these symptoms to your docs attention and see what his recommendations are for you. Since you are 45 you might also want to consider having your doc check your hormones just to see where you are on the menopause scale so to speak. Be sure your are taking a calcium supplement routinely to help prevent bone loss too.
