breathing treatments while on tricyclic antidepressants (Asthma board)

20th April 2008
I've been on a tricyclic antidepressant for many years. Around this same time for the last 3 years I've developed asthma like symptoms and the doctor
put me on pulmacort, irathropium bromide and xopenex breathing treatments.
Not only do they make my heart really skips beats but I read where they are
not good for people on tricyclic antidepressants. Does anyone know exactly
why or what could happen with this combination. I only have to use the
breathing treatments for a month or 2 in the spring or when I get a cold. Right now I should be using the treatments but I'm afraid after what I've read on the internet. I plan to go see my doctor next week but sometimes I am able to offer my doctor things he didn't know himself. I have a feeling this may be one of them. Thank you!
