how I cured my asthma (Asthma board)

20th September 2007
Miyu,

Just wondering if you used a nebulizer often? I know when I get sick ( I used to get bronchitis 5 or 6 times in a year) the nebulizer was the only thing that saved me. At first I was useing the xopenex because it doesn't make me jittery but I just plain doesn't work as well as straight albuterol. I had my tonsils out 2 years ago at christmas time ( I have no idea why no one told me to do it sooner) and it made a world of difference. I went from having 5 or 6 of the bronchitis episodes in a year to having 1 in the last two. I guess it was worth the horrible pain haha. My asthma is no where near under control though I go through 1 rescue inhaler a month. I hate the new hfa inhalers at least the proair I haven't tried the others. They just dont seem to work as well or last as long.

As for your lungs hurting I have been in your situation many times -- sitting in the ER while they give me 3 treatments in a row. I think that we just strain our musscles during severe attacks and when we come out of it they are sore. Im wondering if you were using the neb more and the inhaler just for emergencies if it might work better for you. I know myself when I am sick and over use it I notice a huge diffence in effectiveness. Ask your doc. I made and appointment with a lung specialist for next month hopefully he can get me under control. I am going to visit my friend in Germany (she is stationed with her husband on an airfoce base) and we are flying to paris I am searching for control over my asthma so that I can enjoy the city!
Best of luck
