Just wanted to let you know my dd, now a toddler, was dxd with asthma as an infant. We find that a compressor (the big noisy machine you hook the tubing too) used with the Pari LC Plus (cup that hold the medicine) and Pari baby mask (face mask--they have three sizes for infant through toddler) works the best! The regular pediatric mask allow too much too escape from the sides and the bottom since the mask is longer than her face. Also, the Pari LC Plus has a valve which works better with the child's breathing pattern. Finally the REUSUABLE model can be boiled and thus less chance of reinfection since the disposable ones can only be washed in warm water with mild dishwashing soap. The tubing that comes with the Pari LC Plus is standard size so it will even work with a different type of compressor like one made by Devilbiss (a common brand sold). It is especially designed for babies. We too started out with just an inhaler like you described. I only use it now with albuterol for acute attacks. We use Pulmicort as preventative and Xopenex as needed when she is wheezing. Instead of wheezing for days and weeks now, my toddler is usually better in just a couple to a few days.
