hey all...yea I have asthma, allergic rhinitis, & atopic dermatitis..ALL of which are flaring in the past week..asthma has been difficult to control, i've been on prednisone 60mg/day & xopenex since tuesday. i also take advair 250/50, flonase, singulair, yasmin, & clarinex..and i've been taking sudafed since tuesday also, for my nose has been sooooo runny! normally my nose is just congested but for once its running like crazy, pnd and everything making me cough all the time, and the pain between my ears & sinuses(my face) is HORRIBLE. hurts soooo bad!! i thought i just had a cold but i'm beginnin to think i have a sinus infection..should i see the doctor?? i've got a long history of sinus/ET problems/infections. the pred. & xopenex are helping, but only just enough to get by.

Don't change your meds without talking to your doctor. It sounds like the sudafed is actually working or your nose wouldn't be running so much. Running is good, even though it feels awful. It does sound like you need to see your doctor. You've probably seen an ENT by now for an eval, but if not, talk to your allergy/asthma doc and go to someone he/she recommends and get an eval. You might want to go up to Advair 500 if your lungs are in bad shape to keep from taking any more pred than you have to. Also, after 7 years of flonase I switched to Rhinocort b/c I thought maybe flonase wasn't working for me anymore. Rhinocort has been very helpful. there's also a med called Rescon MX that I take that has a little bit of antihistamine, prescription level sudafed, and an anticholinergic that helps the mucus dry up. I love it. It's prescription only, of course.

Hope you feel better soon.
