I have a question for you. Have you heard of "Mopling"? I was told that it is scar tissue on the luns which in turn deteriorates and you lose lung function. How do they determine that one has that? No, the Albuterol is not enough. It only helps some of the time. I don't know what else to do with my problem. I'm kind of nervous about going to bed tonight for fear of another attack. I do know that anxiety/stress set breathing problems off too....I think. Thanks for all of your feedback!

I've never heard of that before..I have had a lot of chest problems, and still do, but never that. I would imagine it is diagnosed through a bronchoscopy.
I know exactly what you mean..and albuterol doesn't help the anxiety either. I forgot to take my Advair today so to get through the day and gymnastics I had to take albuterol 8 times. During gymnastics, everything made me nervous, I couldn't do anything! I hate albuterol..I am getting a nebulizer soon so I will start doing Xopenex..I love xopenex! It makes you feel all happy as opposed to nervous.
When I'm having a flare I find myself having to sleep sitting up..laying down almost instantly makes me cough or have trouble breathing..and mainly on my right side. So I think my right lung is sicker than the other! Maybe I'm just weird..do you ever get that? It's like the second I lay down, my lungs go overtime. I find myself sleeping with albuterol right next to my pillow lol.

I know what you mean about laying down and sleeping sitting up! What exactly is Xopenex? What kind of Dr. gave you that? Are you on any Birth control pills?> Some have said that hormones can play apart in breathing difficulties, but, I don't know. Yes I can only lay on one side as opposed to another for what ever reason. Do you feel tired alot from interupted sleep? I sure do!

I have been given Xopenex everytime I go to the ER..it helps everytime so I'm hoping I can ward off a few hospital visits by getting it! It is a purer form of albuterol, meaning no shakes/fast heartbeat. It is only available in nebuliser form.
You know I acutally do take bcp's, I've been on them for quite a while b/c I have some kind of hormonal imbalance/possible endometriosis/possible uterus cysts(either way..its gonan be treated with bcp's, so i'm unsure of what I have exactly, didn't wanna get a laprascopy). I'm beginning to think there is some kind of connectoin..b/c I developed asthma last winter..started on bcp's in August of 2002..also I take Yasmin, which has a diuretic in it..and i've heard that diuretics can aggrvate asthma. But I don't wanna take a regular bcp..I hate the prospective of gaining weight!!
I am tired a lot.. but usually when I'm having a flare up, I'm taking albuterol around the clock..so it's like I'm tired..but my body is forcing me to stay awake. I've read that exhaustion can also aggravate asthma and keep you from just getting better...its true. Sometimes I think I read too much into this stuff but ya know I wanna be informed! I wanna know every bit that is going on, doctors dont always have the answers. So I want to have them for me. You know what I mean??

I know what you mean! I went to the Asthma Dr. today because I requested an oxygen tank for home so that the next time I go through an attack and I don't respond to the meds, I can at least have some air and do you know that they would not give me one? Because I haven't responded to any treatment that they have tried with me. Like THAT is MY fault! These doctors have too big of heads and they need to start listening to the patients especially if what they have tried didn't work. I refuse to be on Advair because while it may help one thing, it can cause much more to go wrong. Now, why would I want to do that! I am not one to take meds because I like the vitamin/natural approach because it's just so much more safer for ya. I don't maybe one of these days doctors will pull their heads out! Ya think?????
