I had a hysterectomy with both ovaries removed at age 46 for adenomyosis resulting in sudden surgical menopause. I am on the estradiol patch (Vivelle Dot). Two years later developed acid reflux (LPR). Partial thyroidectomy last year due to benign multinodular goiter and now interstitial cystitis, so yes definitely a biochemical imbalance (hormonal) and not just age.
