STRAWBERRY sales have rocketed since scientists revealed that the fruit is nature’s own version of Viagra.
Supermarket chiefs say customers cannot get enough of the berries.
Sales are up 17 per cent following news on Monday that they have a similar effect to the anti-impotence drug.
Growers have been warned that orders could TRIPLE by the weekend.
ASDA buyer Lee Harper said: “The research definitely had a passionate effect on shoppers.”
Customer Georgina Benson, 28, at ASDA’s Morley store in Leeds, said: “I can’t believe that I’m carrying an aphrodisiac in my shopping basket — but thought I would buy a few punnets just for a laugh.
"I hope my husband is amused.”
