I have replies and advices for both of you. I'm a 28-year-old Lebanese/Irish female. I've always been hairy. I looked like a monkey when I was born. Genetics are the first part. Next, theres hormones - now there's a condition called Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome that can cause abit of a hormone imbalance. Since my troubles with that , I developed a few very stubbly-beard-like hairs from my chin. The lip worsened. Okay - Birth Control helps - alot with hormones. But you may not really be *that* imbalanced. :dizzy:
*IF* you have insurance, see your regular doctor, they can perform these tests for you, and if needed will recommend an Endocrinologist. (Don't jump the gun, Dig?) It's cheaper too. ANYWAY - no insurance? Goto a local Community Health Center and believe me, they will help. You will need proof of income, but it's really not that much to be tested. Plus, they'll give you free Birth Control to manage the hormones. I hear that also they do Gynecological work, so they can check for cysts and stuff. (Depends on where you live really.) I also recommend a Dermatologist. There is a topical cream called Vaniqa that decreases and thins the appearance of hair. Derms are also beginning to specialize in laser hair removal. If you can swing it financially, Go For It!
BTW - Waxing and shaving really don't promote additional growth. That's really a myth. Although waxing has been known to help minimize the width and texture, so that it's more manageable. I know alot about hair cause I'm learning about it in Cosmetology school.
Hey - you know what rocks!??? That microwavable "zip-wax" that they sell at Walgreens/CVS/Ulta etc. it comes in alittle tub. It takes only 3 minutes to shape your brows and get your "stiff upper lip" soft and supple.
Hope all this helps! Love to the both of you!
