   Shingles (General Health board)

14th November 2005
On Saturday I was diagnoised with shingles. Since last week Wednesday through Saturday I was having back pain and my skin was tender to touch. Tuesday is when I noticed the rash. On Sunday I was experiencing little pain, and today I don't have much pain. The most annoying thing is my rash which burns, but I can handle it. I'm confussed because everything I've heard about shingles says that it is extremly painful, but even my worst pain wasn't too bad. Is it possible that I have a mild case of shingles, or is there no such thing? Or, maybe it will get worse. I did start taking Valtrex Saturday, so maybe that's why I feel better? What I don't understand about this is I have read that for the medicine to work you should start taking medication 2 or 3 days after initial symptoms and I started 4 days later. Also, I still have little bumps (my rash), will I get blisters, wouldn't they have come up by now? I guess the bumps could be blisters but I'm not sure. Am I just lucky or is the worst to come? Anyone help is greatly appreciated!
