Thoughts on these lab values (Thyroid Disorders board)

24th February 2007
This is what puzzles me. If those labs are correct, it appears the T4 is low and the T3 is high. If you are already on Armour, I would expect him to add a T4 med (Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothroid, Unithroid) to bring up the T4 and then, perhaps, lower the Armour dose accordingly. For some Armour contains too much T3 to T4 for humans. I take Levothroid, so I don't know about Armour from experience, but I have read similar accounts where the ratio needed to be changed for a patient to feel well.

Edit for afterthought: If you are already taking any med which contains T3, especially Armour, this is where it has become evident to me the TSH value is thrown off and you should pay attention to the FT3/FT4 values. If you are not already on any thyroid medication, those are really puzzling labs.
