Midwest Need your opinion (Thyroid Disorders board)

14th February 2007
Hi Midwest. I'd like your thoughts on this one.
As you know my dr moved leaving me with a replacement dr that I question. She didn't test my free levels only TSH and total T3. I went to a lab where I can get tests done withour drs orders and got my Free levels tested.
Below are the results of all

TSH .01
Total T3 84 (60-181)

With this, she wanted to lower my meds which at the moment are
37.5 mcg unithroid and 1 grain Armour to 37.5 Unithroid and 1/2 grain Armour.

My Free levels cane back at...
Free T4 .70 (.58-1.64)
Free T3 2.50 (2.39-6.79)

As you know I made an appointment with another dr that will do the frees. But I also talked to the other Dr that practices and owns the clinic where I was going. She tells me they don't want the TSH that low because it can cause ostopenia which I assume she means osteoporosis or bone loss.
She says to take 75 unithroid and 1/2 grain Armour. She says with all the levels low it indicates something else going on and that I'm getting too much T3.

From what I've read and learned in the past, the TSH needs to be supressed in order for the frees to be high enough. However, as you can see, mine is supressed but frees are still low.

I still have the option of going to see the other dr that I mentioned in an earlier post.

What are your thoughts?
