Period won't stop (Birth Control board)

25th October 2006
Hello,
I have been taking birth control pills for the past 10 years. Six months ago my gyno switched me to Triphasil 28 and I have had no problems since. I started my new pack last Sunday, but my period never stopped like it should. Yesterday I started having cramping, heavy bleeding, and passing clots almost golf-ball size, which has never happened to me before. Today I am still bleeding, cramping and passing clots although not as large. I spoke with my gyno and she recommended I take a pregnancy test, since last month I missed 1 pill (but took it the next day and doubled-up as you are supposed to). Has anyone ever heard of heavy bleeding and clotting while pregnant? I thought the opposite was supposed to happen - no bleeding when pregnant. I am going to take the test but am very nervous and would like some input from others.
Thanks for your support.

The company that used to make Triphasil is no longer making it. Did you get a generic brand on your new pack of pills? This could be the problem. Keep us posted!
