sorry for what you are having to deal with,i am sure the sudden siezures were a very scarey thing.do you know for certain that the siezures are actually being caused by an actual "disorder" and not another cause?an EEG really is only one very small test, and does not really take a full "look' at the inside of the brain.did he at least do an MRI or even CT?did you see a neurologist or some other type of doc?i am just asking all of this as sudden onset siezure activity can be indicative of many possible medical issues.you just need to be certain as to what is causing these before becomming labeled.
As far as the meds?there are actually many many different types of anti siezure meds out there,i have taken many different ones myself, but for neuropathic pain control and not siezures.but there is no reason, espescially if the trileptal is not working that you cannot try another one that maybe would be much more effective.all of the anti siezure meds are used for alot more these days than just siezures.there is a certain function that only these types of meds have that can help with everything from siezures to pain to bi polar disorders.my son takes trileptal for bi polar III,but at a much lower dose than you are on.
the thing is you DO have other options to try and you should always get a second opinion on certain Dx that are made.if you have not actually had any other sort of testing other than just that EEG,well i really would highly reccomend that you get other tests done just to rule this in for sure or rule it out.you just need to know for sure what it is you actually have going on inside your brain.i hope you can find something that will work for you.good luck and please let me know how things go.FB
