Trileptal Side Effects (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

19th March 2004
Clinique-
One of the side effects of Trileptal is hyponatremia, which is an abnormally low concentration of sodium in the blood. By drinking a lot of water during the day, normally sodium is excreted in the urine. But the fact that you aren't peeing all day sounds like your body is trying to hold on to as much sodium as possible to make up for the sodium depletion caused by the drug.
DEFINITELY tell your doctor about this right away, since hyponatremia (if in fact this is what's going on with you) can become serious. I'm not saying this is what you have, but your doctor should do a simple blood test to evaluate your electrolytes (sodium, potassium, etc).
