BITTER MELON and triglyceride levels (Diabetes board)

23rd June 2007
Hello All

I had written last month asking if anyone had tried bitter melon to help lower their sugar levels. Well, I have been taking it for a month. It has lowered my triglyceride level by 80 points in one month. My doctor had taken me off Tricor because I was having problems. I was off it for 8 months and worked hard with diet and exercise. I was able to keep my levels at the same number off the medicine as I was on the medicine. Then I added the Bitter Melon and the number dropped another 80 points.

I thought I would share the results in case anybody wants to research this supplement. I have heard and read it is used extensively and routinely in Asia and India for those with diabetes. It is my hope never to be on a sugar med again. The side effects were not good for me. I bought my first bottle at a local, health store... Solar Rat Brand. It was $15+ Then I comparison shopped for it online and found it for $7.19. I am happy with the results for me.

a few countries has studied bittermelon for its anti-diabetes effect. in fact, i think i saw a site with bittermelon having clinical studies. just search for it in the net. I also believe in its effect to lower blood sugar level as my autie is taking it, and is, in fact, helping her. Meds are always not the best but replacing your doctor prescribed medication over supplements might also not be a good thing to do. ask for your doctors advice about it. hopefully your doctor is one of those open-minded types. Congrats for controlling your blood sugar. and thanks for sharing =)
