Information. Scar removal. (Cancer: Skin board)

16th July 2004
Months ago I had posted that my Dermatologist would get rid of my scars by injecting with something and I was asked what he injected it with. I didn't know at the time and I had an appointment yesterday and asked him about it. He injects it with Triamcinolone. Sometimes depending how bad the scar is it may take more than one injection. It works great for me. This is cortisone but don't let that word scare you. He says it's perfectly safe. It doesn't go through the body or anything. I have taken many injections over different parts of my body with no problems. Some people may have different results but for me it works.

You probably had what is called a Keloid. It's thicken raised scar tissue. Some people can have very large ones and you doctor is right, you be prone to these types. I have seen great success with Triamcinolone injections, some patients may need more then 1 injection because of the size of the Keloid. Some patients may have no response to the injections.
