talk to your doc about meds that could help....there are more than i knew that are there that can do the job alot better than what we were usin.....use good sound judgement....

Chef, just out of curiosity, what meds are you describing? In am into the second week of no opiates, however, my back pain is rearing its ugly head, after 10 years of dormancy with the Lortab. I am only taking ibuprofin, clonidine, and trazodone now, based on my doctor's advice. I was given some lidocain patches for the back, but they seem ineffective for deep disc pain. I am assuming what you are referring to is non-narcotic and non-addictive. Thanks

Chef, my doc just increased my clonidine to .2 mg 3x/day, and the skin crawls and chills are better. Regarding the trazodone, I am only taking 50 mg at night. He said that this drug is often used for pain, but from the standpoint of tricking the brain to ignore it. It is a common drug for amputees that experience phantom pain from limbs they no longer have. I checked my PDR and it said that this drug could take 3 weeks to build up in the system. Maybe I will get a prophylactic effect from this one on the pain front. In the meantime, ibuprophin and a good chiroquack. Thanks for the info., and hang in there, as your life is coming back. That sciatic nerve pain in your legs is not good...I have it too. Just don't get fused, better proceedures are on the way. G
