Have you had pulmonary function tests done recently?
How about a methacholine challenge test?

Also, which inhalers are you on, and how do you use them from day to day?

i'm on advair 500 which i use once a day, and albuterol which i use about once a day, or as needed...like before i work out. i don't know if i had a pulmonary function test, but i did have a test done where i blew into this thing several times, and they said i was doing ok for having asthma. that was about a year and a half ago. now the pain is a lot worse, maybe i should have it done again. i have not had a methacholine challenge test. my CO2 tends to be normal and my % oxygenation is around 98 usually. *shrug* i fear it's lung scarring or something, except that why would it start happening now when my asthma is relatively under control...and why would it be getting worse? could it simply be bronchitis? btw what is a methacholine challenge test? oh and one more thing...i take singulair once a day (10mg) which seems to really help with the allergies and related asthma symptoms.

when i was a kid i was on 350mg theophylline twice a day, and i am terribly allergic to cats, but we had 5 cats, so if i didn't take my medications i would wake up in the middle of the night completely unable to breathe. at the time we didn't even know it was the cats that were causing the problems. it wasn't until i moved out and my symptoms decreased, and then when i came to visit they went crazy, that it became obvious that a major trigger for my asthma was the damn kitties. anyway...so i was living with these cats and ended up at age 14 with a collapsed right lung (can't remember which lobe) with pneumonia and was hospitalized. so i figured that the pain in my right lung might be somehow related to the damage that was caused by that illness. it just seems strange that something that happened 15 years ago would be causing problems now. i would feel reassured if i knew whether or not it's something really serious or just a symptom that i'm going to have to learn to live with.

anyway, sorry to ramble on.
...and happy thanksgiving =)
