Tegratol and strange behavior (Epilepsy board)

21st January 2006
My son has been diagnosed with ADHD since he was 3.5, which has also brought it's own chain of other health impairments, i.e. chronic depression and ticqs for which he has been taking Adderral, Tenex and Wellbutrin for many years and has been very successful. He just made 14 years and has had 3 clinical seizures since 12/19/05. He's never had any before. Besides the usual EEG, CAT scans and blood tests, the neurologist has come to the conclusion that it could be the onset of puberty along with taking Wellbutrin and not to exclude having ADHD. In lowering the threshold with his anti-depressant, all the other factors have taken part to his seizures. His last seizure was this past Tues, in which he was taken away in an ambulance from school. Since then, he was prescribed tegratol 2x a day. Once in the morn. the other at night (total of 400mg). Since then he has been displaying a strange amount of behavior changes. He has slurred speech, drowsiness (some times of the day), strange off almost mentally impaired behavior, totally unrelated out of the blue topics, weird looks. Almost like he's not there. Has anyone heard of these strange mood changes.

I am very saddened for my child and would appreciate any feedback so that I can determine what step to take next.
