Will 30 mg. Temazapam help KEEP me asleep vs. 15 mg? (Anxiety board)

3rd November 2006
30mg. temazepam is the upper recomended dose, and as such, is quite safe.

a sedating antihistamine (such as benadryl) will boost the effect of temazepam if taken at bedtime, 15mg temazepam and 50mg of benadryl

I've taken Unisom (Benadryl) almost every night for the past couple of mos as recommended by my Dr. Most nights it helps but not to keep me asleep. I'm afraid to take anything with the Temazepam but is 15 mg of that and Benadryl safer than 30 mg of the Rx alone? I'm sure my Dr. wouldn't have prescribed 30 mg. if she felt it unsafe but still...thanks.

30mg is safe - it is recomended in the product infomation for temazepam in the US Canada, UK Australia, New Zealand South Africa. The regulating bodies of these countries wouldnt let the PI contain that dose if it wasnt safe.

I took one 15 mg and about 1/2 of another capsule. After about 30 min, I was OUT. I woke up around 3am but was able to fall back to sleep until 6:15 or so. That was a good night for me. I feel ok today. A little tired but that's the way I always feel anyway. Not bad though. I won't take these every night because Unisom works well enough on most nights unless I have something specific to stress about. It's just that on the weekends, I like to sleep with my DH again and until he gets a sleep study for his snoring, I'll just try the Temazepam on occasion. Maybe tonight I'll get brave and try the whole 30 mg and see if I can sleep straight through. Wow! That would be amazing. Thanks for the posts everyone!
