Hi Mainegal,
I am addicted to temazepam (similar to ambien) and have been for 5 years. I take it every night and feel awful about it except that I get terrified if I don't. I understand the anxiety and I get this even when I reduce the dose. I would persist in trying not to use it if I were you cause the longer your on it the harder it gets. I find I must take it or Iam up till 5 or 6 and it is then impossible to go to work. My husband can't understand why I need it. I used to feel good and tired when I took it and now I still find I can't sleep easily even on the pills. It is a really tough cycle to break. I may try on holiday next week. Have you tried accupunture? this helps me a bit as does Yoga before bed. That way I can reduce my dose sometimes but it does get exshausting lying awake, I know. Good luck with your withdrawel and keep persisting.
