New Labs after 1 month on Tapazol (Thyroid Disorders board)

14th June 2008
Midwest! Are you in any danger with the flooding? Thankfully the water started to recede a bit yesterday, but there is still just one way across the Cedar River in the state of Iowa. My place of work I am sure will have to relocate permanently, but we are in a position were we don't rely on the local population for our business, and can relocate fairly easily.
Thank-you for looking these labs over. I feel pretty good. Other than being diagnoses as fibro, and being very very tired lately, I'd say that goes what you said about the secondary hypoT? I had been all geared up to write the Endo a letter when he had first put me on the Tapazole, but I never did. I was so upset over his never following through with seeing me as he said he would. Yesterday when I was at work, his nurse actually called and spoke to my 14 year old son, and told him that my blood work came back fine, that I should keep up with my current medication!
Thanks again, and I hope you are staying dry!

Hi keystone,

Sorry to hear about the flooding. That's a terrible thing to be going thru.

I'd call the doctor's office and tell em that a 14 year old is not someone to leave a message like that with. There should be a form in your chart that says who it's ok to leave a message with or if a message should be left at all even on an answering machine. I've been changing all my authorizations to no messages. If they wanna say something, I want them to say that something to me so that I've got an opportunity to ask questions.

They are interesting labs and as I recall, your's have always been a bit weird but like midwest said, the main thing is how you feel on your current medication. If you feel well enough, sometimes it's worth letting the labs look weird for a while and see what happens. Not everyone feels good at the same levels. When do they plan on doing followup labs and what's your current dose of tapazole?

accessn12,

For the Fibro, no I have a Dr that belives in exercise as in yoga and walking, no narcotics what so ever. Thankfully my GP didn't hear this :) He will prescribe hydrocodone when my muscles misbehave, I also take Mobic when the arthrictic pains kick in. I do have a rx for therapy, just don't have the time right now. My nieghbor and good friend just happened to get diagnosed with fibro the week prior to me, so I know what the therapist is telling her, and can follow that. Thankfully, I have a mild case. I also feel that a lot of mine is thyroid!! I dont think you mentioned Lyrica but I have read up on it. I dont think it is for me at this point. I am glad that the cytomel is working so well for you!

mkg - You know, they did check my Cortisol and ACTH at my very first appt, but it was 10:30 in the morning. I think it was only because I had told them that I had had abnormal fasting results prior to that and since these results came back normal, they have not checked them again, and nor do I believe that they ever saw the abnormal results from before. I know I need to get in touch with them, but right now their town and the University is flooding. So, I think I will go back to the drawing board with my letter. Ever since mid month after staring the Tapazole, I just never feel rested, muscle aches and pains just blah.
Thanks again all for looking these over for me!
