[QUOTE=Reece;3567494]If it helps, thyroid "medicine" for hypo is not a medication, it is hormone replacement....there are dangers with being hyper, such as stroke, which don't exist to the same degree when you are hypo. The meds. for hyper do work, and sometimes do put a person into remission, but yes, they are pretty powerful.
That being said, my hormones are pretty well balanced, it took some patience and time to get them right, but you can get there.
Now that makes more sense to me. It isn't a medicine for hypo, but a hormone replacement. I guess the doctor called the tapazole an 'anti thyroid' medication...or something like that. I do understand that being hyper is not very good for a person. I have never been so sick in my whole life. I thought I was having a heart attack half the time. It took a couple of visits to my G.P. to get it right. They do not take your pulse at my doctor, but only do blood pressure and temp. I told the nurse my b.p. was high for me when she took it, but she said he would do nothing about it unless it was over 140. She was right. Mine is usually 116 over 70 something and it was 139 over 90 and she said it was fine and he did, too. Oh well...they finally figured it out.
Thanks for your input. I am just feeling scared right now. I have never had any kind of surgery.
