Question regarding my TSH levels and Tapazole (Thyroid Disorders board)

1st April 2008
I would want to know exactly where the t3 and t4 are in the range. If they have been going down and are now approaching bottom, then no, they are not normal. It looks like you're about to go hypo. Your tsh level is saying your body needs more thyroid hormone. Going hypo on tapazole isn't really going to harm you but you probably will end up feeling like crap. I would say, with the approval of your internist, cut the dose to 5mg and retest in 2 weeks. If the tsh is still up, go to either 2.5mg's or 5mg every other day. I don't think you want to abruptly stop or it might backlash. I've had my tsh as high as 134 on tapazole. I had a major backlash when it was abuptly stopped. Next time the tsh got up to 34, it was tapered off.

I do hope though that this is good news for you. Perhaps your hyper problems are over. They do say that Amiodarone induced hyper can be fixed. Best of luck.

Oct. 2007 TSH was less than 0.02, free T4 was 1.3 and free T3 was 314. Results of last week were TSH 14.02, free T4 was 1.1 and free T3 was 121. I am taking 5 mg/day now until I see the new endo at the end of the month. Thanks for the help and yes it was great to get over the AFib and pvcs that came with the hyper.
