Back on the pill after three years-- weird side effects (Birth Control board)

7th August 2007
Hi all,

Okay, I'm probably jumping the gun a bit here, but I just took my first bc pill in over three years. I was on Orthocylcene for 9 years, and then stopped in 2004. I've decided to go back on the pill b/c I get my periods so frequently (every 21-23 days). And I think my hormone levels related to menstruation are causing other problems-- headaches, getting sick more frequently. These are all just guesses, but I figured I'd try the pill again anyway.

The doc put me on Sprintec. I was really nervous about being nauseous, because in a nutshell, I just hate being nauseous and vomiting! I took the pill at 9:30pm last night and everything seemed fine-- until I woke up this morning at around 6:15am. I did feel sort of nauseous, and I had this painful aching in my chest/upper stomach area. I feel like my ribs and back were hurting too. Has anyone else experienced this upon taking their first pill-- either ever, or after a long hiatus like mine? It seems to have subsided a bit, but I'm wondering if it's normal. Or how long it will go on before my body "adjusts".

My sister took Yaz for the first time (she had never been on bc before) and said all she had was a slight headache for the first few days. Don't know if it's her own body's reaction, or if Yaz is better......

Thoughts?
