   Mystery sickness... (Bowel Disorders board)

6th April 2006
Many doctors do do not believe in the existance of yeast infections in the GI system -- they think it is nonsense-- like your Gastro doctor.

There is alot of controversy about if candida/yeast overgrowth happens because it is a type of bacteria that lives in everyone's boby -- but overgrowth occurs in other places in the body like the mouth, finger & toenails, and the vagina with no question so why not the intestines. There have just been too many people that have been helped with an anti -candida diet and anti fungal drug like Nystatin, Sporanox, Diflucan and others. Particularly when other treatments fail to help -- the Doctors offer no other solutions.

The problem is there is no medical tests for the overgrowth of yeast/candida. You have to go by symptoms.
But, if you took Threelac, eat garlic and yogurt and your symptoms are worse then you have an imbalance of yeast--- or yeast overgrowth/infection.

Yeast lives and thrives on all sugars and carbohydrates that are converted to sugar during digestion. If you are extremly sensitive to sugars and carbs-- yiou get bloated, fatiqued have diarrhea along with alot more.

I Have had it and every time I take an antibiotic -- I get it again and have to deal with it.
I think you are in the same boat???
