I asked my dr. for spironolactone, it's a dieretic made for blood pressure, but works for women with acne by blocking the androgens that are causing the breakouts. I have been on 75mg for 3 weeks with incredible results. The acne just stopped and the side effects - there are none :) I would ask my dr. to try that route before something severe. Good luck to you.
