she took some supplements by a company called Standard Process that were recommended by the nutritionist. Many chiropractors sell these also. I do have another nutritionist friend who does not like Standard Process products and said he wouldn't feed them to his dog! They are glandular extracts mostly. I encouraged her to take Biotin also but I don't know if she did. She also discovered during that time that she had wheat and other food sensitivities and so she eliminated those foods during that time and just ate very healthy all around during that period. So She eliminated sugar, soy, corn, rice and processed foods. Didn't really help her acne but her hair got better due to the emphasis on nutrition. That was her major goal since the hair loss was bugging more than the acne problems.

Actually, I think the nutritional recommedations by Barry896 are excellent. Yes, biotin is very important for hair re-growth. She also used Nioxin shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment products for a while. They don't smell too good but are also good for hair regeneration. I would also pay attention to your protein intake and make sure you are getting half your weight in protein grams per day. I would say she noticed improvement within about 4 months.

Other drugs can cause hair loss. She lost alot of hair on ortho-tri-cyclen but Yasmin does not seem to do this. I recommend Yasmin and, if needed, additional spironolactone for long term acne control for women (in addition to antibiotics) if you are among the ones that accutane didn't help. This is working for her.
