Please Help! With Addiction (Addiction & Recovery board)

29th November 2007
Hi good people,
I have posted here, but am still under the grip of a complex addiction to hydrocodone and soma and can't seem to complete a detox. I have been addicted for a long time and have tried to detox in the last month with no avail. I have some complex issues that is keeping from getting past my first day or two (tried several times). These issues are due to long term abuse of these drugs. These issues (Health) are eshogus errosion, stomach errosion, L4-L5 herniated and buldging disc and teeth and gum problems. So far I have tried getting into treatment centers but they have long waiting list and I need help NOW! I have tried to taper these drugs with, so far, no sucess. I have had no sucess with doctors on this matter and have just wasted money trying to to get help from them. I am currently taking 25 Norcos (Hydro) and 15 soma a day. I am mentally and physically run down with depression from H***. The soma seems to be the toughest of my battle. I feel suicidal sometimes, but want to live. This addiction runs in my family also. I have already lost 2 brothers from addiction and 1 from a car accident. My mother also had a stroke this year and I feel I have been dealt a really bad hand here in life. I want to make things better for myself, but I feel like these killers have got such a hold on me that there seems to be no way out. I have tried the thomas recipe with no sucess. I don't think that sub is a route because of my throat/stomach errosion and also the fact that I am on the soma, as well.
If someone has some advice that can help me, it would be greatly appreciated!

HI captnanny,
I came to Florida from Louisiana back in april to take care of my mother, after she suffered a stroke. I don't have a Dr. here in Florida. The way I am getting the Norco and Soma are pretty much classified, at the moment. These are some of the things I have that may or may not help for another attempt at detoxing:
Ultram (10 tabs 50 mg.)
Xanax (10tabs 0.25mg.)
Klonipin (3 tabs .50 mg.)
Darvocet n-100 (15 tabs)
just about everything in the Thomas recipe (except L-tyrisone)
aloe vera juices
vitamins
Bentyl
Donnatal/phenobarbital (15 tabs 42mg.)
catapress/clonidine (.50 mg tabs)
prilosec otc
GI cocktail
Immodium tablets and liquid
green teas, Chammomile teas, Good food, nice and comfortable home.

So I am aware that I need to make this work for my sake and I am willing but unsure of my ableness because of the opsticles I mentioned before, Hmmm I really done it to myself this time. However I am not giving up on this. Oh and I don't think that my parents would be the best for handing out pills to me, for they are very much up in age and wouldn't understand, in the least what I was trying to accomplish, anyways they have their own health issues, at the present, and I haven't met anyone here that could help me in that manner. It's a retirement community and most of everyone in the area are 65+. So, so for it's gonna come down to me "suckin it up" solo.

Your ideas, suggestions, and
understanding is greatly appreciated,

MORE THAN YOU KNOW! Makinit

Nanny, I have 15 norco, but have access to another 35 by tommorrow, if I need them. So given that say I will have 50 tabs, I guess I need to base my taper on that. Oh and the list of stuff I mentioned before was for after the taper. I feel that the problem child is the soma, it just locks me up. I feel like I get paralized when coming of such a large amount, all at once. Right now I'm trying to talk a family member into coming to florida to help me with this taper and keep them from my sight until it's the right time. We'll will see how that goes. Oh! How are you doing? Stay with me, when and if you can.

Thank you for all your support! Mak

If suboxone is bad for your stomach, what do you think the other pills are doing to it? The soma is a form of tramadol right? Excuse me for my not knowing, I always thought it was a muscle relaxer. It seems to me that you have to start with one drug first. If you want it to be the soma then go down by one for the first week. See how you are in the morning and then reassess if you think you can handle 1 1/2 drop to two. Only your body will let you know. If anyone knows this about all of this it is a wonderful person whose screen name is Reach. Others have wonderful words of wisdom as well. Please be patient with some and me for I am not always online, I get too angry with the computer even with these w/d"s. Post again and let us know. And your doing a good job just by posting and being honest.:)

I was addicted to hydros, darvocet AND Soma. I eliminated one drug at a time, rather than try to detox off everything at once. The hydro was first, then the darvocet and finally the Soma. Once I was down to just the Soma, my doctor prescribed flexeril, another muscle relaxer, but a NON addictive one. The Soma was actually the easiest to come off of. I was worried about stopping the Soma CT without tapering, but my pharmacist said that the flexeril would take the place of the Soma and I would not experience withdrawal....he was right.
