Any luck with "no weight gain"? (Anxiety board)

20th February 2006
I am a chronic pain sufferer daily. I was a police officer and broke my right shoulder in 2001 and the bone about ripped through my skin. It was a level 5 shoulder break which is the 2nd worst you can have.

I've had 3 major surgeries and I take cymbalta for an anti-depressant and it also helps a little bit for pain. It's not a weight gainer but the exact opposite, it surpresses your appetite. I've been on cymbalta for 6 months and feel great. I was on effexor before and it just quit working so my family doctor put me on 120mg of cymbalta immediately. It was like cold turkey just quitting effexor but cymbalta works on your MAIO's and SSRI's.

Cymbalta gives you good energy but can sometimes make your anxiety worse because of the energy surge so I am on Xanax XR 4mg daily. Plus I am on Oxycontin 80mg daily, Percocet for BT pain 30-40 mg daily, Skelaxin for my muscle relaxant and Lyrica 300mg daily for nerve pain. Lyrica is heaven sent in my opinion. It has stopped my nerve headaches that I had before Lyrica and would have to go to the ER for morphine. :(

I'm only 27 and had to retire on a pension/disability from the force. My whole family is in law enforcement and it sucks that my body is messed up. I forgot to add that my C-5 disc in my neck bulged out as big as an apple. They wouldn't do surgery and I was basically bed ridden for 7 months except when I went to PT and a specialist manipuated it back into place but it took 7 long months.

I'm sorry for getting off topic here a bit but I just wanted to let you know what my situation is and what meds I'm on.

Hope that helps.
