Hydrocodone Withdrawl (Addiction & Recovery board)

14th August 2003
hi lil ole me...
there are lots of options for helping with sleep. i'm surprised that the valium doesn't help you sleep, that sure worked for me. other people have given good suggestions...benadryl and dramamine might work and those are over the counter. trazadone is a good sleep-inducing medication that most doctors don't have a problem prescribing for.
there are the sleeping pills like ambien or sonata, and people have different opionions about them...some say they are horrible and very addicting...in my experience i've had a prescription for years, and have never abused them or been tempted to. in fact, after several days of use, they become pretty much useless, so while they are good for a couple of days, they're useless for every night use.
There's also the muscle relaxers like soma, flexeril, skelaxin.....
it's hard to predict what will work in one person since everyone is so different.
but in my opinion, sleep is essential during detox...it helps your body and mind heal and also makes the time pass more quickly :)
so check with your doctor if you still can't sleep and ask him for his advice.
hang in there!
