burning throbbing red lips itchy lungs, ear and throat after breathing in spice fumes (General Health board)

7th April 2007
Could you tell me if this is the cause? I was exposed to steaming vinager and crawfish boiling inside with lots of spices for weeks. I can still taste the spice in my mouth. Do you think this could of damaged my lungs? I am very tight in the chest and have a little whistle when I inhale. My lungs feel itchy so does my throat and right ear. My lips are bright red and throbbing. What should I take for this? Do you think singulair would help??? Thanks

Hi, Sounds to me like an allergic reaction. Did you eat this food or only breath in vapors while it was cooking? I would try some benadryl, and go to an allergy Doc for testing. If you are allergic to shellfish (crayfish) that could cause a worse reaction next exposure. Singulair is what my son used to take for his asthma symptoms (preventative). Hope this helps!
