Bumpin an old thread....
I've had mild sleep apnea for years. My husband has told me that I stop breathing at night and snore. For years - I've been taking Allegra D to help clear my sinuses which helped reduce snoring atleast. Now...the past 6 months I've been having issues from chest tightness, to lump in my throat. I've always had problems clearing my throat, never had heartburn... I've had sooo many doc appointments in the last 6 months, been to regular doctor, pulmonary specialist, & gastroenterology specialists..... been on asthma and acid reflus meds. Currently on Protonix and Singulair. My sleep apnea feels worse at times now - and it doesn't feel asthma related at all. My breathing feels labored, even during the day and mostly after I eat larger meals (gotta stop doing that - it's the holidays). But then again, sometimes I go to bed at night with totally empty stomach - and I feel my breathing is labored. I often stop breathing ...and then catch a deep breath. Sometimes I wake myself up gasping for air. I mentioned this to my pulmonary specialist and he wasn't too concerned about it considering I'm a *very active* person and seem to not be suffering from lack of sleep....
The meds are helping to slowly reduce the lump in my throat. I'm not clearing my throat as much.... but seems my sleep apnea has increased a bit on certain evenings and my mouth fills up with saliva more often.
Ongoing battle....
