Carbidopa/Levodopa (Sinemet) DOSE SCHEDULE (Parkinson's Disease board)

2nd July 2008
[QUOTE=glama9;3561655]Has anyone tried cutting Sinemet dose but taken it more frequently? For example, instead of taking 25/100 mg three time a day, taking one-half the pill (12.5/50 mg) six times a day? Perhaps this "spread-out" dosing schedule would lessen the occurrence of dyskinesia and still effectively control symptoms.

glama9;3561655,

Not being a Dr. but having had the same experience, you might look into Sinement time release or adding another med such as Comtan which makes the Sinement last longer. Additionally, you might discuss Celebrex with the Dr.
I had to quit the latter due to side effects. ( Be advised, Comtan is expensive)

the original use of amantadine was to treat and prevent some kinds of flu.
it is taken for tremors of PD. one parkie taking amantadine said he has not had a cold in l5 years; i have had no cold or flu past 5+ years. one member said her mother has MS takes amantadine for energy.

the lowest price for comtan is approx $1 per 200mg pill mail order.
stalevo which is sinemet + comtan costs $2.60 per pill locally.
generic sinemet costs only $.30 per 25/100 mg pill mail order.
taking generic sinemet (carbidopa-levo) and comtan would cost
about 50% less than the single STALEVO.

i got a month supply of stalevo (90 or 100 tablets) free as samples,
paid $253 for second month. i plan to take sinemet only adding
comtan as a 2nd pill taken at the same time as if it makes a difference.
