Effexor and Paxil definately have there drawbacks but if they are the right drug for you they are a life saver. It is up to the client to ask their doctor about all possible side effects of the med they are about to take. Of course there are going to be people who the drug does not work for but there are also a heck of a lot more people who the drug has given their life back too.

Yes, agree...always get scripts filled at the same pharmacy...most do checks of drug-to-drug interaction. Ask if they do this..all the larger chains do. If they don't then find a new pharmacy. Most docs have to get out the printed materials, just as we would do, and read the side effects. Heck, I can do that for myself. Also, the larger chains also print materials and put the print out into the RX bag...read about the med side effects on the print out.

I take a lot of medications, many with their own side effects; e.g. Sinemet which can cause dyskinesia (uncontrolled movements).

Regarding Effexor...I currently take 300mg and would not be without it. I have tried in the past to stop ADs altogether, only to have my psychologist beg me to never stop again...and I won't stop again...not a pretty picture when I did...cried 24/7.
